Called Children of God
“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.”
1 John 3:1
This might seem like an unusual verse to highlight, but it came to us through one of our employees—the “cuckoo in the nest,” she could be called! ☺️
As many people know, Boss is a family-owned and operated business. However, we have one employee who has become an honorary member of the family. She is also a veteran.
Recently, she was looking through some of the letters and cards she received while she was away at boot camp. Among them was one she has always cherished. It was sent to let her know that her mom and sister would be able to attend her basic training graduation.
When she stepped onto the bus to leave for boot camp, she was almost certain that no one from her family would be able to attend her graduation. Receiving the news that they would be there was huge.
Inside the card was the verse from 1 John 3:1. As the story goes, the card had arrived in the mail as a free gift to her mom. Her mom immediately felt that it had come for a reason—that it was meant to be sent to her daughter, along with the wonderful news.
Thinking about the love and excitement that were shared when the news was sent—and then received—still brings a smile. Those who have experienced boot camp or basic training will probably understand that feeling on an especially personal level.
Yet the love shared in that moment is only a small reflection of the love our heavenly Father has for His children.
The love that led Jesus to endure the cross so that we could be forgiven, redeemed, and called children of God is almost impossible to comprehend. It is both overwhelming and humbling.
Once we accept what He offers us, we are never truly alone. We are the children of God!
The enemy may try to convince us that we are too broken, that we have made too many mistakes, or that we have wandered too far from our Savior. But those are lies designed to keep us separated from the Father who loves us.
God does not look at us and see someone too damaged to save. He sees His child.
No matter where we have been, what we have done, or how alone we may feel, His love continues to call us home.
