Standing for Christ
“But whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.”
—Matthew 10:33
This verse has come up several times during our morning meetings. When we were discussing what this week’s Sunday Fuel should be, our media team’s immediate response was, “This is perfect!”
Sure—you get to create the cool graphics. Now someone has to come up with the words behind them!
In all seriousness, this verse can be difficult to sit with. We live in a time when there is so much concern about offending people or making someone uncomfortable. As a company, we have already taken stands that have not made everyone happy. However, while reading this passage in our Study Bible, we came across an explanation that made us stop and think:
“Everyone who acknowledges me before men. A Christian can easily avoid persecution by denying that he or she is Jesus’ disciple. But the true disciple does not fear death (v. 28) and will publicly acknowledge and confess Jesus. Whoever denies me. The eternal consequences for those who deny Christ, in fact, will be far worse than the persecution that they sought to avoid.”
Sometimes—and everyone here at Boss is included in this—we forget that there is so much more to life than what is happening right now. We are here for a greater purpose.
It is easy to become caught up in the moment. It is easy to let the shiny things of this world distract us from what truly matters. For many of us, staying focused on Christ is something we have to work on every single day.
Just look at Peter. He never imagined that he would deny Jesus, yet he did. Still, that was not the end of Peter’s story. Christ restored him, and Peter went on to do incredible things for the Kingdom of God. His failure did not disqualify him from being used by God.
Wherever you are and whatever your role may be, you can stand for Christ.
That does not mean it will always be easy. Trials and temptations often appear in places we do not expect. Things may be flowing smoothly at work, and suddenly everything seems to fall apart. A friendship that has been stable for years may unexpectedly become strained. Distractions, frustrations, and discouragement can slowly pull our attention away from God.
In those moments, stop and remember everything Christ has done for you.
Put down your phone. Step away from the noise and distractions when you can. Open your Bible and spend time reading about everything Jesus willingly endured to pay for our sins. Nothing we experience in this life can compare with the sacrifice He made for us.
In our human minds, our struggles can feel overwhelming—and sometimes they truly are painful. But as we draw closer to God, He begins to bring clarity, peace, and an eternal perspective that the world cannot give us.
Standing for Christ does not mean we will never struggle, stumble, or feel afraid. It means that when we do, we continue turning back to Him. We choose not to hide our faith simply because it may be unpopular or uncomfortable. We remember who we belong to, and we trust Him with the consequences.

May we have the courage to acknowledge Christ not only through the words we speak, but also through the way we work, serve, lead, and live each day.
